Nebula Sensors

Post by DrysonB on Tue Oct 01, 2013 10:22 am

I think that Nubela should not be able to be scanned using normal sensors but would instead would require a Nubela sensor in order to see what was inside of the Nubela.

You actually can`t really see what`s inside a nebula unless you`re within the nebula yourself.

@assasing123
I've found that a large nebula can increase lag in big maps.

@Ravendark
Surely a proximity sensor probe wouldn't last long inside a nebula.

What about creating a new type of probe that would reduce the total mass of the nubala, <--- joke from the old days of HW....to a certain point that would allow viewing of the interior of the nebula. The reduction mechanic could be used from HW1 where the more that a resource asteroid or gas pocket is mined the smaller the visual graphic becomes.

Or even better yet a Nebula Barrier Field Probe that would able to be sent into a Nebula that would then create a barrier field around the ship to protect it from radiation for a limited time. Once the probe ran out of energy another one would need to be produced to replace it.

To do the work a "Nebula Barrier Field Probe" would need to be a bit bigger than your regular probe — a useful device to make short term safe pockets in the nebula, for salvage ops perhaps.

That`s not a bad idea actually. Perhaps something for the Kadeshi race?

Indeed! It would be a distinctive difference for them.
