Artificial stupidity

Post by elkurdt on Sat Aug 24, 2013 7:47 am

First guys, thank you very much for your job here, i found it amazing. I love everything, no more useless energy, less ships, i swear, everything, but the AI is terrible.

At the end of a match, i've discovered i used 300.000 r.u and i spent 299.986 for my business, but when i check the Ai, i discovered that it drilled 300.000 but used 400.000. How can it be? The Ai is cheating hard and makes the game less fun, of course i should play on tunngle, i know (and i'll do) but... Could you do something about it?

I guess the problem is that the Ai is very bad, so you tried to change this fact giving it steroids, but imho, it's rubbish Smile

There is hope this thing gonna change in the next few releases?

Apart this, thank you very much for everything Smile

The AI has always needed an advantage. This dates from the original vanilla version of HW2.

If it can't cheat, then it would be a hopelessly poor opponent.

The cheating is not going to change. It simply wouldn't be a challenge. We are improving it though http://homeworldrebirth.userboard.net/t211-ai-reaction-improvements-ooooocomplete-nakamura

Okay, so this means that, one day, the Ai will cheat less then how it does no, is it right?

Doubtful. Not unless we find ways of making the AI a LOT more stronger/smarter.

Yes, AI will always need cheats. They can't be as smart as humans in games which needs a big part of "feeling". (not in chess lol. Poor Kasparov)

As AIs go, the HW version isn't the worst I've come across.

Guys what you're seeing is the RUs gained by fusion, mining etc, They don't count toward resources gathered. Really It;s just a disply bug on the end of game screen

would it possible to implement an AI similar to that of Earth 2160? in short a learning AI that gets harder as the game advances or furthermore, the more matches it plays?

in that game if you let the AI alive for more than half hour it becomes truly unstoppable @,@

Rather undesirable in HW2, i'd say!
